What is CheckMyLES?
CheckMyLES is a free tool that explains every line of your military Leave and Earnings Statement (LES) in plain English and checks the checkable numbers against the official published 2026 pay tables. It also tells you what to ask your finance office when something looks off. There are no accounts. It is an independent educational tool, not affiliated with the Department of Defense, DFAS or any branch of the armed forces.
Is my LES stored when I upload it?
No. Your file is held in server memory only long enough to read the numbers off it, which takes a few seconds. It is never written to disk and never stored in a database, and it is gone when your report renders. To read it, the document is transmitted to an automated document-reading service under its API terms, and it is not used to train models per that service's API data policies. We do not sell, share or retain personal data from statements.
Can I check my pay without uploading anything?
Yes. The 10-second Basic Pay check needs nothing but your pay grade and your years of service. You can also enter the monthly base pay shown on your LES to compare it with the official 2026 table.
Which branches and file types does it work with?
It covers all six branches: Army, Air Force, Space Force, Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard. The layouts differ, for example Army and Air Force myPay, Marine Corps MOL and Coast Guard Direct Access, and the site reads them all. You can upload a PDF or a photo of your LES.
How accurate is the check?
The 2026 pay, BAS and SGLI figures are taken from published official rates and cross-checked. Reading an uploaded statement is automated, though, and automated reading of a scanned or photographed document can be wrong. A verified result is not a guarantee that your pay is correct, and a flag is not proof that it is wrong. Your finance office and myPay are the only authoritative sources.
